COIMBATORE: The deal will be pushed off the table was the gist of the message from the CPM leaders to the party cadre on the Indo-US nuclear agreement. The CPM’s political report presented to the party congress this evening said the Left will formally convey to the government not to finalise the safeguards agreement with the IAEA or go to the Nuclear Suppliers Group after the outcome of the Vienna talks are communicated to the Left leaders. The government has been holding talks with the IAEA on the safeguards agreement from November. When the outcome of the talks are communicated to the Left, we will take the stand that they should not proceed further to finalise the safeguards agreement or go to the NSG, the report said. Barring a small pro-deal section in the government, there is realisation in the ruling side that a forward movement on the nuclear deal has become quite impossible.
